Starting an organic vege garden is extremely exciting, [...]

Starting an organic vege garden is extremely exciting, especially for you moms who want to get your hands dirty in the backyard. Beginning an organic vege garden is a great way to have some extra food during the Spring or Summer and if you love cooking, you will definitely enjoy your vege garden. You won’t have to go to the supermarket to get vegetables every week. Just pick out a few tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, and radishes for a special soup that you can make for the whole family. Now, if you are new to gardening, you will probably need some tips when it comes to building and maintaining your vegetable garden. We’ve added some tips for you below, so be sure to read everything:

First of all, decide on how you are going to build your organic vege garden. If you don’t have a lot of space in your backyard, you can create a vertical veggie garden. It may seem odd to you but believe it or not – this is a new trend among many gardeners. All you need are some pots and a wall. This could be a fence or even the back of your home. There are many tutorials online on how to build your vertical garden. Otherwise, if there is plenty of room in the backyard, just build a garden that sits in the ground.

Decide on what type of vegetables you want to plant. You’ll have to find out when is the best time to plant them. You can’t just plant at anytime, unless you are indoors. You can find the seed packets in the store and on the back of these are instructions on how to plant and also when to plant the seeds. It is very important to plant when they say because if you don’t, your plants will most likely die.

Once you have your garden set up, it is important not to spray around it. This includes pestiscide sprays or even weed killers. All of this can be dangerous for the plants. It wouldn’t really be an organic vege garden if you went around spraying chemicals. If you want your family to stay safe, it is crucial you do this. Remember that even though this is an organic veggie garden, that you still wash your plants before using them in any food. Besides, if you have just taken them out of the dirt, they will definitely need a good washing!

How about installing a protective screen over your vegetable garden or better yet, you can use a greenhouse screen if you want. This is made from plastic and will keep the vegetables warmer. As for the regular screen, most bugs won’t be able to fly in. Also, you won’t run into any snails since the screen material is tiny. This is a great way to protect your organic vege garden.

Did you know that certain fuel burners can also be uti [...]

Did you know that certain fuel burners can also be utilized in the heating of water in the home? They use a heat exchanger or also known as the “wetback”. A cold stream of water goes through a long copper pipe which leads to the burner itself. What the burner does is absorb all the heat which comes from the fire. This can be much more useful with an electric water system that some people would call “conventional.” There are so many benefits of using a wetback fireplace these days but most of the time, people have not yet taken advantage of this. This particular type of fireplace can also be used with a solar water heater for heating up water during a rainy or icky day outside.

There are many wetback fireplaces online that you can choose from. Some local retail companies have them as well but you will be able to get a better variety online. After all, you want something that will fit your home perfectly, right? Let’s discuss some of the benefits of using the wetback fireplace:

A wetback fireplace is more convenient when it comes to energy and you won’t be wasting a lot of heat this way. Since water is being used, there shouldn’t be any problem when it comes to paying electric bills.

Another benefit is that these fireplaces are much warmer than a regular fireplace that you would see. You can stay in front of these for awhile and keep yourself warm, but don’t get too close.

The best part about the wetback fireplace is that they will stay hot for a long time. For most models, you don’t have to throw in any wood. This takes all of the hard work out of it and you’ll save money and time when it comes to finding or buying wood.

Overall, your family will really enjoy the wetback fireplace. You will be able to sit with them in front of the fireplace and enjoy it while sipping on a nice warm cup of tea. Although roasting marsh mellows probably isn’t possible, everyone will still like this particular fireplace. It is also safe around children since the fireplace has a protective glass screen which covers it. Many of the models come with this and also if you really want, you can purchase an extra gate to go around this. You obviously don’t want little hands touching the glass and getting burnt. Remember that before you decide to purchase a wetback fireplace, to do some online research. You need to know what type of model and design you want prior to having it installed in the home. Also, it is a good idea to hire someone to install it for you if you don’t know how to do it. A professional will make sure it is installed correctly and works properly. Making a mistake in setting it up can be dangerous so this is why we tell you to do this. Once you have your fireplace set up, the whole family will be pleased with their new little “body heater”.

There are many different energy efficient roofing mater [...]

There are many different energy efficient roofing materials that one can pick up to help reduce energy use within a home. If you want to decrease the gas emissions while at the same time also saving on utility bills, then you will need to find a sufficient energy roofing system. With so many roofs to choose from, you might need to look into each one before you make your decision. There are cool roofs, low-sloped roofs, or even green roofs. By using any of these roofs, you can cut your electric bill drastically and even though it will cost you a fair amount of money to get everything installed – it will be worth it in the long run.

Cool roofs have been manufactured for the sole purpose of keeping the sun away in energy efficient roofing. What it can do is reflect the sun’s rays and even the heat away. With regular roofing materials, you will only be able to reflect just 10%, leaving you with 90% of energy being absorbed. These roofs can really cool down a home and once you’ve had your roof installed, you will definitely see the difference. During the summer months, you might not even feel the need to turn on the air conditioner. A home that is heated by the sun often turns into an oven, just because of the roof. This is because the roof is closest to the sun.

Let’s go over some of the benefits of low-sloped roofs when it comes to energy efficient roofing. It’s rare to find these on homes but there are some out there. You will mostly find these types of roofs on commercial buildings. If you plan on having this type of roof installed, it is important to add a cool coat application. You can also go for single- ply membrane if you prefer. Any thick type of paint will work so don’t worry about this too much. You can easily add this to surfaces like metal or gravel. You will be able to improve adhesion and also stop algae from growing a lot. Did you know that this type of roof doesn’t normally need excessive washing? This is because it can wash itself during the rain.

Green roofing is becoming insanely popular now that we are in the year of 2013. In energy efficient roofing plans, the green roof is the second most popular solution. Most commercial buildings will have green roofs because not only does it look elegant but it helps them save money in electricity costs. What you have here is a min-ecosystem that can be placed over a roof that already exists. In order for this to work, you will need to use planters. The green portion of the roof is actually what keeps the roof cool since it is shading the area. Also, they are great during the winter time. These green roofs can actually keep warmth inside on a cold, winter night.
